In this Privacy Policy, we, us and our means Shree Krishna Broking Pty Ltd ACN 695 813 604 trading as S K BROKING, together with our aggregator Australian Finance Group Ltd ABN 11 066 385 822 (AFG), Australian Credit Licence 389087, and its subsidiaries.
Our commitment to your privacy
We know how much it matters that your personal information is looked after. This document explains what we hold, what we do with it, and the undertakings we give you. It also covers how we handle credit reports and other credit information.
Over the course of our relationship we may give you further detail about our handling of your information in other places, such as application forms or terms and conditions. Please read those documents carefully.
Any personal information we collect about you will be used only for the purpose we collected it for, or as the law otherwise permits. We want you to be confident that anything we hold about you is treated in a way that keeps it protected.
Our undertaking is to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act), the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2014 (Credit Reporting Code) and any other law that applies.
What personal information means
By personal information we mean information from which your identity is reasonably apparent. It can include information or an opinion about you.
The kinds of personal information we may hold include your name, date of birth, address, email address, phone number, account details, occupation, transaction history and anything else we need in order to identify you.
If you are applying for finance, we may also collect the number and ages of your dependants and the people you live with, how long you have lived at your current address, your employment details, evidence of your income and expenses, and your tax file number or tax residency status.
When you use our website we collect location information, your IP address, details of your device and network, and any third party sites you reach from ours. The section on tracking technologies below explains how.
What we collect, hold and use may include credit-related information.
Credit-related information
Credit-related information covers two things.
- Credit information is personal information or an opinion about you that bears on credit you have been given or have applied for. It includes details identifying you; the type, terms and maximum amount of credit provided to you, when it was provided and when it was repaid; repayment history; default information including overdue payments; payment information; new arrangement information; financial hardship arrangement information, including whether you have entered into a hardship arrangement with us; details of any serious credit infringement; court proceedings information; personal insolvency information; and publicly available information.
- Credit eligibility information is credit reporting information given to us by a credit reporting body, together with anything we derive from it.
We use credit-related information to assess whether you are eligible to be provided with finance. Information of this kind is ordinarily exchanged between credit and finance providers and credit reporting bodies.
If you want to make a purchase from us or through us, or if we need to pay money to you, we will also collect your payment details. If you apply to work with us we will collect your work history and may ask your referees about you.
Why we collect it
We collect and receive personal information, including credit-related information, in order to run our business. That includes assessing your finance application and then managing that finance, confirming who you are, staying in contact with you, managing our risk and meeting our legal obligations. We may also use it for direct marketing and to manage our relationship with you. As technology improves, businesses like ours are able to use information to form a more joined up view of their customers, and from time to time we may offer you other products and services.
If you apply to become a finance broker with us, or apply for a job with us, we collect information to help us decide whether to appoint you and afterwards to manage that relationship, including offering you other products and services.
Payment information is collected so that we can process payments.
How we collect it
Where it is reasonable and practical to do so, we collect your personal information straight from you. We may also collect information that is publicly available, such as from public registers or social media, or that is made available to us by third parties. We may collect information from credit reporting bodies, finance brokers, employers and others such as accountants, lawyers and referees.
Who we may disclose it to
We may disclose your personal information:
- to current or prospective funders and other intermediaries connected with your finance requirements;
- to any other guarantors, borrowers and security providers where there is more than one;
- to borrowers or prospective borrowers, including in connection with credit you guarantee or propose to guarantee;
- to other organisations involved in managing or administering your finance, such as valuers, surveyors, third party suppliers, printing and postal services, call centres, lenders mortgage insurers, trade insurers, recovery firms, debt collectors, lawyers and credit reporting bodies;
- to our agents, contractors or external service providers where we outsource a function such as statement production, debt recovery or information technology support;
- to businesses we have a relationship with that may wish to market products to you;
- to companies that supply information and infrastructure systems to us;
- to anyone who represents you, including finance brokers, lawyers, guardians, holders of a power of attorney and accountants;
- to anyone else where you have given us your consent;
- to our auditors, insurers, re-insurers and health care providers;
- to claims related providers such as assessors and investigators who assist with claims;

- to organisations involved in our funding arrangements, including trustees, warehouse funders, investors, rating agencies, agents, auditors and advisers, or any entity with an interest in our business or in your finance; or
- to your current or former employer, your referees or identity verification services.
Before we disclose your personal information to another person or organisation, we take all reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that either:
- that person or organisation is committed to protecting your personal information to at least the same standard as we are; or
- you have consented to the disclosure.
We use cloud storage for the personal information we hold. That storage and the underlying servers may sit outside Australia.
We may disclose your personal information to overseas entities that provide support functions to us, including in the United States, Canada, Malaysia, India, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the Philippines. You can ask us for more detail about those entities.
Data analytics tools let us combine what we know about you and our other customers with other sources of data, such as third party websites or Australian Bureau of Statistics material. Analysing that combined data helps us understand our customers better and improve what we provide. We may use it to help other businesses understand their own customers, but we will not hand over personal information about you unless we are legally required to.
How we handle credit-related information
We exchange credit-related information in order to assess your finance application and then manage that finance. If you are proposing to act as a guarantor, one of our checks may involve obtaining a credit report about you.
Credit-related information may be held by us electronically on secure servers and may also be held on paper. We use cloud storage for it, and that storage and those servers may be located outside Australia. Where credit-related information is disclosed to entities overseas, we make sure appropriate data handling and security arrangements are in place.
When we obtain credit eligibility information about you from a credit reporting body, we may also look for publicly available information and information about any serious credit infringement you may have committed.
The credit reporting bodies we use are Equifax Pty Ltd, Experian Australia Credit Services Pty Ltd and illion Australia Pty Ltd. Their privacy policies are available at equifax.com.au, experian.com.au and illion.com.au.
Notifiable matters
The law requires us to tell you about certain "notifiable matters" relating to how we may use your credit-related information. You can ask for these matters, and this Privacy Policy, in an alternative form.
We exchange your credit-related information with credit reporting bodies. We use what we exchange to confirm your identity, assess your creditworthiness, assess your finance application and manage your finance.
A credit reporting body may pass the information we report about you to other credit providers, to help them assess your creditworthiness. We may in turn obtain information that other credit providers have given to a credit reporting body and use it in our own assessments.
The information exchanged with credit reporting bodies includes details identifying you, the types of loans you hold, how much you have borrowed, whether you have met your repayment obligations, and whether you have committed a serious credit infringement such as fraud.
If you fail to meet your payment obligations on finance we have provided or arranged, or you commit a serious credit infringement, we may disclose that to a credit reporting body.
You have the right to ask for access to the credit-related information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it where necessary. See the section on access and correction below.
Credit reporting bodies sometimes use credit-related information to "pre-screen" credit offers at the request of other credit providers. You can contact the credit reporting body at any time and ask that your information is not used that way.
You can also tell a credit reporting body that you believe you may have been a victim of fraud. For 21 days after receiving that notification, the credit reporting body must not use or disclose the relevant credit-related information.
Notifiable data breaches
The Privacy Act contains a Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. It requires us to notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) about certain data breaches, and to recommend steps you can take to limit the impact, such as changing a password.
Notification is required where a breach is likely to result in serious harm to the people affected. There are exceptions, for example where we have already taken remedial action that removes the risk of serious harm.
If we believe a breach has affected your personal information and created a likely risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the OAIC as soon as practicable, and stay in close contact with you about what happened, what we are doing about it and what you can do to reduce the impact. If you think information we hold about you has been caught up in a data breach, contact us.
Direct marketing
From time to time we may use your personal information to send you current information about finance offers that may interest you, changes to our business, or new products and services from us or a company we are associated with.
If you would rather not receive marketing information, you can opt out at any time by emailing us. Where the marketing came by email you can also use the unsubscribe link. There is no charge for acting on your request and we will take all reasonable steps to deal with it within a reasonable time.
Keeping your details up to date
It matters to us that what we hold about you, such as your home address, email address and phone number, is accurate and current. During our relationship we may ask you to let us know if any of your details have changed. If you want to change something, contact us. We will generally rely on you to keep us informed so that our records stay accurate and complete.
Access and correction
We will give you access to the personal information and credit-related information we hold about you. You can ask for access at any time. We may charge a fee to cover the cost of retrieving the information and supplying it to you.
Depending on what you ask for, we may be able to respond immediately. Otherwise we usually respond within 30 days of receiving the request. We may need to contact other organisations in order to look into it properly.
There are situations where we are not required to give you access, for example where the information is commercially sensitive, where it relates to existing or anticipated legal proceedings, or where the request is vexatious. If we do refuse access, we will explain why.
If anything we hold about you is incorrect, inaccurate or out of date, you can ask us to correct it. Where it is appropriate to do so, we will. Otherwise we will give you an initial response within seven days of your request, and where reasonable, once we have looked into it, we will tell you within 30 days whether the information has been corrected. We may need to consult other organisations as part of that. If we decline to make a correction, we will give you our reasons.
Government identifiers
Where we collect a government identifier such as your tax file number, we do not use or disclose it other than as the law requires. We will never use a government identifier as a means of identifying you.
Dealing with us without identifying yourself
In most cases we need to identify you in order to do business with you. Where it is lawful and practical, however, we will give you the option of dealing with us without providing personal information, for instance if you are making a general enquiry about interest rates or a current promotion.
Sensitive information
We will only collect sensitive information about you with your consent. Sensitive information is personal information that includes details of your racial or ethnic origin, political views, membership of a trade or professional association or a trade union, sexual preferences, criminal record, health, or biometrics such as your fingerprints.
How secure is the information we hold?
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information by keeping it in a secure environment. It may be held on paper and electronically. We also take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Complaints about privacy
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information or credit-related information, or you have a complaint about our compliance with the Privacy Act and the Credit Reporting Code, contact us. We will acknowledge your complaint within seven days and aim to give you a decision within 30 days. If we are going to need longer than that, we will tell you and let you know how much additional time we need.
If you are dissatisfied with our response once you have been through our internal complaints process, you can take the matter to our external dispute resolution scheme, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), by phone on 1800 931 678, by email at info@afca.org.au, or in writing to GPO Box 3, Melbourne VIC 3001. You may also contact the OAIC at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992. Our Complaints page sets out the process in full.
Cookies, analytics and tracking technologies
This website uses cookies, pixels, tags, software development kits and similar technologies (tracking technologies) to help operate the site, remember your preferences, measure use, optimise content and serve advertising. Some tracking technologies are run by third party service providers, for example analytics, advertising or chat platforms. Information they collect may be used by us and by those providers in line with this Privacy Policy and the providers' own privacy notices.
What we collect when you interact with us online depends on what you do on the site. As you browse, we collect general information that cannot identify you, for statistical and maintenance purposes, which lets us keep assessing how the site performs. That includes the number of visitors, the number of pages viewed and the path taken through the site.
This is used to build aggregated, anonymous information about how the site and its features are used: which pages are visited most, whether the messages we send are opened or read, which advertisements are viewed or interacted with here or on other sites where our advertisements appear, and whether any error messages occurred. It may be used to improve the online experience generally, to compile statistics, or to tailor what you see. We do not collect information that identifies you personally through this, although if you hold a registration account with us, cookie information may be associated with that account.
We may also allow third party advertisers to place their own cookies on your device through advertisements on this site. What those cookies collect is used to decide which third party advertisements to show, how often, and where on the site they perform best. They do not collect information that identifies you personally.
Information that cannot identify you is collected through code embedded in the pages of this site. That code cannot be disabled.
Other information, such as your browser type, is contained in a cookie sent to your computer when you complete certain tasks on the site. A cookie holds small pieces of information that let our servers recognise and interact efficiently with your computer. Cookies are intended to make the site easier to use and the experience more tailored.
You can manage tracking technologies through your browser settings or, where one is available, through a cookie preference centre on the site. Turning some of them off may affect how the site works. The help function in your browser will explain how to change its configuration. Some functionality requires cookies to be accepted. If you would prefer not to receive any cookies you can set your browser to refuse them, though this may affect your use of the site.
